Question
QUESTION: hello i have a 50 gallon fish tank and i am very interested in silver dollars i already have 6 inch wide bar silver dollar and a 4 inch regular silver dollar. the are accompanied by 2 jewel cichlids 1 two inch fire mouth 1 krib 1 red zebra cichlid and a 10 inch bull head catfish. and i am wondering how many silver dollars i would be able to have

ANSWER: Hi Ben,
For a 50 gallon tank you already have too much fish in there.  The 10 inch bullhead catfish requires a 100 gallon or more just by itself.  With all the other fish you might need a 150-200 gallon tank.  I wouldnt add any more silver dollars as this is already over stocked.

QUESTION: hello i am thinking about setting up a 20 gallon community tank with a school of marbled hatchet fish , a school of red wag platys , and 2 honey gouramis will this work
, thanks

ANSWER: The gouramis may or may not stress out the platies and the hatchet fish because they are known to be semi-agressive whereas platis and hatchets are nonagressive.  Its better to keep the same temperament of fish in the same aquarium.  Also, the platies will end up breeding as they are live-breaing fish, the gouramis will definitly eat the babies.

QUESTION: hello i have just notest that my six inch wide bar silver dollar is starting to hang out in the lower corner of my tank and i am not sure what is wrong.also in his upper fin there might be some fungus but i personally don't think that is it
PS if you no the scientific name of wide bar silver dollars please tell me

Answer
If you do believe it is a type of fungus or fin rot, Maracyn and Maracyn Plus are used for that treatment.  It is very effective.  Or any antiobiotic I believe should also work, but I have not experienced any other antibacterial meds besides Maracyn 1 and 2.
