Betta Belly

Question
Hi, there is a bump on my bettas underbelly.  Almost where those long pelvic fins are located.  The bump is about the size of a green pea.  The scales look fine, I dont think its dropsy because the scales do not look like pine cones.  At first he had normal energy.  I fasted him for three days, but he seems to be a bit lethargic, laying on leaves or the bottom of the tank.  I am gonna go out and get a green pea for him to see if it will help.  I am assuming that constipation is the issue.  Am I right?  Any suggestions would help.

Answer
Jake,

Sorry to hear your Betta is not well. Without seeing a picture of him, it is hard for me to know whats wrong. What size tank is he is? Does he have a filter and heater? Being lethargic is usually do to the water being too cold, but might be due to another problem. It could be swim bladder which is brought on by constipation, which the pea will help. Make sure you shell the pea, and only feed him the inside. The peel can be very hard for him to digest.

Sorry I can't help more, but if you send a picture of him, i might be able to assist you more.

Let me know if i can help you more.
