Sitting Black Moor

Question
I own a Black Moor, three gold fish, and a plecostomus in the same tank. My Black Moor will just sit in the same spot in the tank. He will just sit anywhere in the tank for long periods of time. He doesn't really sit at the top though. I am not sure if he is just trying to get out of the current or what he is trying to accomplish. He hasn't been floating on his side for what I have seen. Also he is turning pale on some places of his body and on his twin-tail fins. What's wrong with it? Thanks.

Answer
Spencer,

What size tank do you have these guys in? With the 4 goldfish alone the tank should be no smaller than 60 gallons. With the pleco, he should be in nothing less than 75 gallons, because he can grow to be 2 feet long. The pleco can be sucking off the slime coat off the goldfish. If you have the common pleco I would suggest removing him from your goldfish tank. Replace him with a britslenose pleco instead. Both the Pleco and the goldfish are very messy fish. I would say you are having an issue with water quality. Water changes need to be done weekly. More often if the tank is too small. Make sure the tank is large enough, that the filter is doing its job, and that you remove the common pleco and replace him with a bristlenose pleco instead.
