Non Breeding Cichlids Tank

Question
I am starting my first African Cichlid tank and I am trying to determine the greatest variety of fish I can keep (80 gallon with coral substrate and lots of red lava rock). I keep reading that I should keep 1 Cichlid male per 2 or 3 females, but I have no interest at this time of breeding them and really dont want the fish to pair up. Since breeding is not my goal can I simply choose 1 of each type of fish I like so that I can have a wide variety of body shapes and colors?  Also can I keep some loaches and eels with them? (ie weather loach, clown loach, fire eel, and spiny eel)

Answer
You would be fine to choose 1 of each type of fish for your tank and even if fish paired up other fish would probably eat the eggs anyway so its not really an issue. It is fine to keep eel's and loaches with the cichlids.I advise clown loach, lovely fish.
