Question
QUESTION: hello. I am going to be buying a 55 gallon tank (36x18x18)
i would like to have the following fish in this aqurium.
3 bala sharks
2 koi angel
2 western rainbowfish (do not HAVE to have these)

Do you have any other suggestions? Thank you

I will also be getting a 20 gallon tank (24x12x12)
In this, I would like to put:
5 cardinal tetra
5 pygmy gourami
3 blue tux guppies

ANSWER: Hi Patrick,
That looks fine.  Do note that the Bala Sharks are schooling fish and do better with 6 or more of its kind.  Also, they get fairly large, I believe they get a foot long, so a 55g might be too small once they reach a bigger size.

QUESTION: Well, now that I know the fish I am going to buy, I was
wondering if you could help me find the right equipment for
the tank. There are SO many filters to chose from! I would
like to get good filter and air circulator so there isn't much
algae. Thank you.

Answer
Some of the good well known filters are Marineland and AquaClear filters.  Be sure to get one rated higher than your current tank.  For example, since you have a 55g, I would suggest an AquaClear 70.  Many people prefer AquaClear over Marineland.  But both are still good.
