Question
I just set up a freshwater fish tank. I have 4 gold fishes in there. I think I did everything right in terms of cleaning the water and the filters and everything and I dont think I fed them too much. But I have been notecing that the fishes are coming to the very top and they are kind of looking out of the water. And the water is kind of cloudy after the 1st day of putting a new tank. I didnt even feed them much. Everything works too. And How do I know if they are hungry or not? How do I know that my filter is working or not?

Answer
Hi Bhavik
What size is your tank?

And do you know what kind of goldfish you have?

What kind of filter is it?  Does it hang on the back of the tank, and have like a water fall where the water flows back into the tank?

Ok....here's a link to read through.  It explains everything about cycling a fish tank.  This is why your tank is looking cloudy, it's the beneficial bacteria colonizing:

Fish are always hungry lol.  I'd recommend only feeding them once a day though, what they'll eat in about 3 minutes.  Scoop out any food that's uneaten.

Along with the cloudy water, the fish are hanging at the top most likely from ammonia in the water.  It may also be a lack of oxygen as well, but I need you to answer those other questions first before I can say for sure.  You'll need to start doing daily water changes, about 10-20% of the water should be changed out each time.  This will help dilute the toxins in the water for them, and hopefully they'll survive it.

Read that link, and let me know those answers.  And if also if you have any questions then, let me know!
