Question -
what table leftovers could you feed blue acara?
can u feed them leftovers at a fairly young age say 8 months ?(2 inch)?

Answer -
Hi Alex,
Thank you for your letter. You don't literally mean scraps from the table, I hope :-) However, you could try a little lettuce leaf and maybe a little slice of zucchini. Remove whatever they don't eat and forego any boxed fish food on the day you give them veggies (organic is best).
The less you feed fish, the healthier the tank will be.

can u feed acara earthworm?
could u please tell me all the foods acara would eat.thanks.

Hi Alex,
If you decide to use live food, such as worms, etc., please get them through an aquarium supply shop. Be careful what you put in the tank because it could introduce bacteria, parasites, etc.
If you feed live food, skip a day before feeding them again. Also, remove any food they don't eat.
Please read my page for holistic aquarium care and watch out for over feeding of any type of food.

Answer
Hi Alex,
I recommend that you only feed them what you can buy from an aquarium supply shop. They sell live worms, but they are not earth worms. I do not recommend putting "meat" in the aquarium, because it can pollute the water. Regulation fish food, like you buy in a box or can, has plenty of animal products in it. Consult with the sales staff at your local aquarium shop about the best foods for your fish.
They will remain healthy and full of color if you feed the minimum and keep the water clear and healthy. The product "Cycle" is the best water treatment because it contains live bacteria. Fish need the bacteria to help them digest and to keep their silky coating healthy.
Food is not the most important factor. The best way to keep them healthy is to use Cycle and prevent over feeding.
Consult your local aquarium supply sales staff about live food. They have all the answers and a good shop will also sell live food.
