Question
i just bought five neon tetras, three tropical male guppies, and one female, and also one very beautiful blue male beta. i have only had the fish for twenty four hours and i discovered that my beta has been almost torn to pieces. what do i need to do. will his fins be alright? will they grow back? can he stay in the tank with these other kinds of fish? or should he be all by himself? i dont have an extra pump or a tank to put him in how long can a beta be in water without fresh air supply?

Answer
Hi Hallie,
How large a tank did you put these fish in?

The fins will grow back if the fish is not bothered.

The good news is that a betta doesn't need an air supply -- they can breathe air at the surface, unlike most fishes.
