Question
i have 3 gouramis and 7 guppies i am new to tropical fish,  i have 2 switches on my pump one produces air bubbles from the gravel the other from the tube in the tank do i keep both switched on for oxygen or just one.I find when i feed them guppies seem to take all food and gouramis slow at getting to eat. Also they sometimes swim crazy and look agitated why would this be.Any help would be appreciated

Answer
Hello Rebecca-

I would keep both switched on during the day, and switch the gravel air flow off at night.

Gouramis are notoriously timid fish, and probably won't eat until the guppies are done, so be sure to wait for the guppies to fill up before offering the gouramis food.

I've got two gouramis, and they do the same thing you've mentioned: something (I can never figure out what it is) scares the daylights out of them and they "freak out" and swim crazily. I really have no idea how to remedy this, except by keeping the lights off and sheltering your fish from loud noises.

Hope this is useful!
