Companions for my zebra danios...

Question
Hi,

I have a Biorb Life 45 (45l/12usg) tropical tank. I currently have 3 zebra danios but would like to add more fish to my tropical tank setup. My preferred option would be to only add 2 more fish which will be a bit bigger than the danios. Can you recommend fish which would be suitable for this or should I really stick with shoalling fish of a similar size?

Your opinions would be very appreciated.
Cheers.

Answer
Martin.    If you want to add a beautiful fish that would go great, I would go pick out a male betta. They may try to eat your danios but they are pretty quick so probably won't happen. We will call that exercise time lol. Really he won't eat them. I think that all tanks should be balanced so I would add a bottom feeder like a cory. They come speckled, green, albino(not as hardy). They can get pretty chubby quick and they are so cute with their mustaches. They max out at about a 3 to 3.5 cm. If you go with a betta switch your food over to frozen blood worms. Just a couple for everyone. I am not a big fan of the biorb. I would keep fish that are hardy. Make sure you have a couple plants in there so your betta can stake out a territory and they like to lay on them sometimes to sleep or hang out. Good Luck, Tina
