Question
QUESTION: They would not let me ask another follow up, but this is Diana with the sick and now dead Betta.
Thank you for all the advice, it is not "too much info" as you said, I really need it. I live in a small town and the fish people here know NOTHING. I had Bettas for years like I said but all the info that is out now, they just did not have it 20 years ago, or it was much harder to find, so I will print out ALL your advice and save it. Not sure where I will put a 5 gallon tank that gets sunlight, our house is very very dark. I actually do not have a heater, I have a thermometer and found that, with the lightbulb, the temp stayed a constant 80%, even at night, since I am warmblooded I keep the house warm year round too. The new fish may have to wait, though I hate to do it.
But I wanted to comment on your cat. I too am a cat person, I frankly like them better than people (actually, I like all animals better than people) and just spent the a ton yesterday on simple vaccines, so I know how you feel, but I am sure you are like me, I would mortgage the house beofore I would stop treatment for a sick cat. I am not sure if you believe in this stuff or not, but I am a LITTLE TINY BIT "psychic", and I do not see your cat passing on, at least not anytime soon. I feel (I dont really see, I feel) there will be a struggle, and that YOUR strength, your healing ability (which I think you have) will actually be the thing that pulls your little friend through. So keep the love and nurnuring (and medicine) flowing, it will save her, at least for now. I dont feel this go round is her time yet. I hope that helps and I hope it was not to presumptious of me, and that you dont think I am a nut now :-)I am not aways right, but I am most of the time so I wanted to tell you to give you hope. You need to have hope and light and happiness flowing inot your cat.
I rescue animals too. I have had every crippled, sick, deformed animal from fish to birds to cats and dogs in my life. I cannot turn down a stray! But they are the best, you know?
Okay, I promise to leave you alone and I will say a prayer for your cat. Like I said, give her your energy, give her your love, she will make it through this.(I am a paranormal expert on here as well)

Diana

ANSWER: Thank you so much Diana,
I am worried sick about her, but I found a lady who sells food that she claims will help "Minnie" I have nothing to lose as I have changed her food three times now with the vet's prescription.  She is all blocked up, so I went against his wishes, and I'm going to try this food that has no by products, no corn, and all the junk Hills Prescription Diet has in it.  I had no problems until this vet told me she was allergic to her food, since then, things went from bad to worse.  I so hope you are right, and that she will get better, she is so special to me.  Have you ever heard of "Holistic Cat Food?"  This is the type of food she has.  I have had so many cats, dogs, even a skunk, and fed one all winter... like you, I cannot hurt an animal or close my door to one.  I worked mostly in banks, but loved animals so much, I use to work in pet shops on weekends, and even left the bank to work full time...so you see, I'm a little nuts too...lol  Like you I would do anything to save a stray.  I have 6 feral cats, and one is pregnant.  She is just a little baby herself, but I don't know where I will get the money to feed them all.  I won't call the S.P.C.A. as they kill ferals..I'm always caught with one animal and another one..I love them.
Getting back to the Betta.  Don't put him in the sun if you get one, and don't keep the lights on to keep his water warm.  Put him in a warm place, and he should be okay.  The water won't go down that much seeing as your home is warm.
Thank you for reassuring me, it really helps me, and love she gets, lots of it.  The energy is pouring into her.
You are very special.

QUESTION: Lynda,
I think you are on the right track with the food right now, I really do. My vet is excellent, she ONLY does cats, and she diagnosed my Chloe with food allergies that she had all her life and i never knew it. Apparently cats show it differently than we do.
She also advocates special foods and I have done a bunch of research and the more pure the food is, the better for the cat.  Granted, it is that way for all living things, but cats in particular need the correct diet to survive. Did you know that diet kills most cats, not disease? Really sad. I don't know if Holistic Cat Food is a brand or not, but I do know cats are carnivours so they need meat protein, not vegetable protein as Purina would want you to think, and Omega-3 oils are essential not only to their chemistry, but to thier coats and bowels as well. For some reason I get the "feeling" Minnie is dehydrated and that is part of her problem but they dont see it. Could that be the case? In any event, I do feel you are on the right track this time, the doc is good.
I agree with you on the SPCA. I would have a ton of cats if it were not for my husbands allergies. Have you looked at the organizations that sponsor www.theanimalrescuesite.com? If you go there and browse the tabs on the right you might find some good info and a way to find a place close to you that is a no-kill shelter. If nothing else you click, the sponsors give, and it costs you nothing, I go daily to each place.
Okay, thank you for your time, I will pray for your baby and if you think of it, let me know how she does? My email is

ANSWER: Diana, they block the e-mails on the system, so cannot get through.  I think you are right about her being dehydrated.  It sent shivers up, and down my spine.  The vet told me to give her mineral oil, everyday with Laxatone.  I have been doing this for a week now...OMG, I should have known better....I felt it yesterday, I just had an uneasy feeling when I was giving this to her, so I gave her less.  He told me to give her 1 tablespoon of Mineral Oil everyday...Gosh, now that you mentioned this, it just slapped me in the face.  I will stop this too.  Holistic food has mostly fresh chicken or fish in it, and vitamins, and vegetable oil.  It looks good.  I got her chicken cans, and chicken bits...maybe I should have gotten the fish instead.  My head isn't on straight these last few days...Thank you for mentioning this to me...boy do I feel stupid or what?

QUESTION: No no, you're not stupid! We cant see the forest for the trees when we are in the middle of something...and I do not recommend giving her fish, it is not good for cats, too salty and too much mercury, you can buy the omega oil from a good vet, it is good for dogs or cats so should be easy to find. Stop the mineral oil, very bad. Even vegetable oil like Canola or even butter is a better oil until you get the good stuff. Chicken is the best...easy to digest, low in fat, high in protein. You are doing fine and the food you bought sounds excellent. Just go with your gut, it never lies! Oh, and if you google "raw diet for cats" you may find some tips. People go overboard, but you will pick up some good ideas. If you cannot reach me thru regular email, you can ask me a question, I am an expert here. Spirituality has a paranormal phenomenon are ad I am annalisa. Please let me know how Minnie is doing in a few days if you think of it, I aknow you are busy but I would like to know :-)

Answer
I just called all the vets in this area, and none have omega oil.  Maybe in a nature store I will find it.  I bought her treats today, again against the vets wishes...but she loves treats, and I feel so bad.  I found her some with Omega 3-6  It reads fresh chicken liver, ground flaxseeds, honey, natural flavor, herring oil, taurine, garlic powder, iron oxide..may contain traces of peanuts.  I didn't buy this from the Lady, I just bought it in a grocery store.  You know, I'm the one who is bothering you now.  I will find your site, and let you know how she is doing.  If I don't find the omega 3 tonight, I will give her butter instead or Canola, but maybe I should let her rest tonight, and give her tummy a break.
