Betta not eating

Question
It's been three days now and Roger (my betta) won't eat. He either floats at the very top of his fishbowl taking in air or is lying dormant at the bottom with no movement. I even tried placing a mirror in front of him to see if I could get him to respond. He just looks into the mirror...again no movement.  Is he dying?

Answer
Ok most fish don't eat when they are stressed so put his temp. up to 80 degrees F. so if you don't have a heater i highly reccomend getting one. I would put the betta in a 5 gallon tank with a filter, heater, light, and some decorations. The reason your fish is stressed is because he was brought into a brand new enviroment and is probably cold (stressed) and can't move around much if he is a small bowl or glass. He might also be stressed from high ammonia or nitrite so i would get a test kit for thoseand alkalinity, hardness, pH, and nitrate if something is too high or low that could very well be the problem. This is what i feed my bettas to keep them happy and colorful "Omega One cichlid pellets" and frozen bloodworms or beefheart. He could also be getting old life spans for betta are only about 3 years so h might be dieing of old age.
