Question
QUESTION: Hi Lynda. Bad news, I treated the cory fish for black ich but he died. 200 spawns? I will have my work cut out for me. I did everything you said to do and Rex still died. I followed your instructions. Now I have to tell my friend. She wants me to have some of the babies but I don't think I could own a cory fish of my own. I counted how many eggs there were but lost count. There are hundreds of them. My friend won't be back for a while yet. the party at ordsall hall was great and guesse what. It will be in the advertiser and I got to have my picture took by the advertiser photographer with the ordsall hall staff. They got an award too. I tried to send you the picture of my goldfish but the computer froze again. It's been freezing alot. I won't get a minute with the fry will I? It's a good job I love fish. Dasher Comet and Rudolph say hello. They are growing. Stop growing goldfish because I can't keep up with you.
Danielle. I took lots of pictures at ordsall hall. They are going to invite me to the reopening too in 2011.

ANSWER: Hi Danielle,
There is another disease which causes fish to have black spots.  This is seen mostly on fish in ponds. It is very very hard to get rid of.  How are the other catfish doing?  The fry should be swimming by now, and should be fed.  I hope your friend gets home soon, as she would know what to do.
No, you can't keep babies with goldfish, they would eat them.
I'm happy you had a good time at the party, and how nice to be invited to the opening.
Have a nice week ahead, and take care.
Lynda

QUESTION: Hi Lynda. I didn't think I could keep cory fish with the goldfish. The other catfish are fine, it was just Rex. The fry are swimming. The raising awareness of goldfish is going very well but I haven't finished yet. I stilll need to do alot more. The fry are swimming around like mad. They are so cute and I fed them. They are cheeky.
Danielle.

ANSWER: Hi Danielle,
That's nice that you are raising awareness.  The goldfish sure need all the help they can get!  Remember to feed the corys 4 times a day, and keep their water very clean.  Water changes every day should be made.  Your friend will be surprised when she comes back home.
Have a nice week ahead, take care, and stay safe.

QUESTION: Hi Lynda. Rudolph has died and comet and dasher are not eating. I haven't had them long and Rudolph has already died. What have I done wrong? I feel guilty now for losing Rudolph and he was only baby. He died last night. There are no sympoms of disease on the goldfish apart from lying on the bottom of the tank and not eating. I looked after him didn't I? He loved me. I don't think dasher and comet will survive as they lived in the same water. I don't want to lose comet and dasher too. I am devastated again and today I was in tears all day. I loved him.
Danielle.

Answer
Hi Danielle,
I'm so sorry that Rudolph has passed away. This is really odd seeing as they were all doing okay, and suddenly they are sick...all of them!  Change all the water, and see if this helps them.  I just don't know what could be wrong with them unless it is internal parasites.  There must be a goldfish expert that could help you with this.  As you know, I am not an expert on goldfish.  I try to help, but when things like this happen, I am at a loss.  Have you checked your water for ammonia?  Is your water alkaline?  Is there enough oxygen in your tank?  Ammonia happens quickly with Goldfish.  I just don't know what to say to you Hun.  You bought them a nice tank, took care of your water, fed them well...I don't have the slighest clue on why they are dieing, unless they have something internal.  Write to a goldfish expert who could help you more with this.
