Question
QUESTION: Hi
i have a ten gallon tank with two aquatech 5-15 filter and a heater. i use a divider to keep two male bettas in there. what are some good tank mate for male betta. i was thinking of neon tetra or corycat or something. can you give me a list of those fish who are compatible with my two betta.
ps. this tank have been set up for about a years now.

ANSWER: Quan,    Absolutely, I can. Cory cats are great they tend to stay out of their territory. With these guys I can tell you the albino's are not as hardy as the speckled (my fav)or the greens and they get pretty chubby and have the cutest mustache. As far a swimmers your neons are touchy to water temp and bullying. Don't forget your betta's are carnivores and if they can catch it they will eat it. I would go with a few danios on each side. They are fast not temp sensitive and at least three together because they are schooling fish. All these guys are hardy. Now if your betta's have become to territorial they will go after the danios hopefully that will stop. If not, it is too stressful for both fish and stop the danios. The cory's should be no problem like I said. Try on one side fist. Good Luck, Tina

QUESTION: Hi
i was thinking of two pepper corys on one side and two green corys on the other with two or three zebra danios on each side is that okay.

Answer
Quan,      I know these guys are small at the pet shop but fed right they can grow to about 3 inches and chubby. Since your tank is split you have two 5 gallon tanks. I would not put more than one in each side. You don't want to overload your tank either. They will dart up and down from time to time. Also if you want to put a catfish wafer in now and then split it between them for food supplement....they will love you for it. Oh and your betta's every couple of weeks or so (you probably already know) give them each a thawed out frozen pea. You might have to crack it abit and take the shell out later but, they are sworn to have natural antibiotic properties and will keep them from constipating and having swimbladder infections. Don't forget what I said about the danio's stressing your babies. Good Luck, Tina
