Ick

Hello, I have a 30 gallon fish tank. It has always been very healthy, but suddenly all of my fish got really bad ick. 2 lost their color, 2 died, and the others dont look bad yet... I have been putting medicine in, but nothing. I was wondering if there is anything else I can do to help my fish.

Dylan,    I am going to ask the obvious question first. Have you checked and made sure your heater hasn't went? I wish you had told me what medicine but, its ok. Do a water change take out close to 40%. Go get coppersafe . Its very cheap and I swear by it. Do not change you filter cartridge after water change. You don't normally have to change your filter with this medication but, Remove the old cartridge. Let it run a couple weeks no cartridge. We want to keep the copper in the water as long as possible. This is mineral based so unless you do a water change and the small amount your filter cartridge removes it lasts for about 30 days in your tank. You should bring your water temp up to about 78 to 80 degrees. You should start seeing a difference in the first couple days. If it gets any worse let me know as soon as you can. Good Luck, Tina
