Does this number of fish sound ok for 29 gallon?

Question
Hello Jon, I've once again changed my mind regarding types of fish to hopefully soon add to my 29 gallon.

I'm currently doing a fishless cycle so I have to wait.

The tank is 30" x 12" x 18" and I'd like to put 7 or 8 Blue Neon Guppies (males only), 6 Cories (3 of Panda, 3 of Julii) and finally a Dwarf male Gourami.

Does this number sound ok as far as inches go.  I rather like to go by the surface area of the tank rather than 1" per gallon, perhaps it equals out anyway?

Thank you for responding,
Paula

Answer
I think you should be ok with those in the tank. Like you said about the surface area rather than 1" per gallon. I would do 6 guppies, 6 cories and dwafr gourami. You just dont want to over crowd the tank. This will cause major health problems if not tended to enough, which leads to ALWAYS working on the aquarium instead of enjoying it more. Dont add them all at once, do 1-3 at a time, repeat every week until you reach your goal. Good luck!
