Question
Hi Megan-
I just got 2 zebra finches (males) and a nice wooden cage. I'm wondering if
the cage is big enough for these active boys. it's 14 inches in diameter, we
figured it's 153 square inches. Is that enough?
Would you recommend getting another cage to transfer them to when I'm
cleaning this one? How do you get them from one cage to another?
thanks for you expertise and time!

Answer
Is the 153 length?
I would not go with circle because all sorts of birds seem happier with square cages. I would go with 20L"x16W"x12D" (LengthxWidthxDepth).
No. Do not move them to a separate cage, that would cause undue stress. An excellent and non-toxic way to clean the bars and perches of the cage is to use vinegar water. Use 3/4C of vinegar per 4L of HOT water.
The best way to catch them (if they get out) is with a bird net. NOT A FISH NET! When they're in the cage just use your hands (clean hands).
