wild baby finch

Question
I found a wild baby finch in my back yard yesterday.  It doesn't have all of it's feathers yet and can basically only flit around a bit, but can't fly completely.  My husband and I don't want him to get hurt.  It seems as if he fell out of a nest, but we can't find where.  We have him in a box with grass and food/water, but not sure that is what we really should be doing with him.  Do the parents come back?  We think there are a couple birds that keep watching him, but we are afraid that because we touched him they won't come back and he will get hurt.  Should we just keep him until he gets all of his feathers and let him go?

Answer
Because you touched him, there is a good chance that the parents will abandon him. You can bring the little guy to a avairy vet and let them deal with it or you can try and take care of the baby yourself. Here is a link of handfeeding if you are interested in careing for it yourself:
