Nest types?

Question
Hello,
I plan on placing two nests in my cage and I am wondering what arrangement would work best in terms of territory and security. Would placing the nests side-by-side be better than having the nests on separate sides of the cage? Or, would having one nest atop of the other be better?

Secondly, my local pet(s)mart offers two types of nests and I would like to know what zebra finches like best. One is small, made from a dark straw material, has one entrance and is very dark inside. The second is made of lighter pressed-straw material with a very large and bright inside area with a "back window"

Thanks!

Answer
You can if you want to but I like to put my nests in opposite sides of the cage in one of the corners. They really don't seem to care but every now and then you do get an aggressive one.
As long as it is a covered nest the birds don't care. Just don't count on that "back window" with the right kind of nesting material the birds get quite creative and that window disappears behind a wall of nesting material.
My own zebras seem to like sisal fiber which can be purchased at www.ladygouldian.com or www.ladygouldianfinch.com
On that site you can find all sorts of items that will enrich your bird's life.
