white finches

Hi, can normal zebra finches have white babies? will they kill the mother after about 3 weeks of hatching. Mother has been pecked at the back of the head and is struggling to survive. Have separated her but don't know if she will last. This is the second time that a mother has been killed just after the babies hatch???

The only way for a normal zebra to have white is if the parents both have a recessive "white gene". All babies start out white though. When their adult feathers come in they show their true colors. Why could three week old babies kill their mother? It could possibly be the male trying to kill the babies and mom is defending them
