Pair of Zebra Finches

Question
Hi, I have been looking into getting a pair of zebra finches for a while now and have been reading up on the breed some. I know having just a pair should be fine, but I haven't been able to find out if it's better to have a pair of male zebra finches or a pair of females. I don't want to breed them and I know they duplicate fast if you have a male and female.

I am inclined toward males because I don't want to have to worry about removing eggs all the time from females and I like the males songs. I'm wondering if a pair of males will get along ok though or if they will fight for dominance all the time? Maybe females do this as well? Any information on whether it would be better to get a pair of male zebra finches or female zebra finches would be great (or if this kind of pairing is even a good idea at all!) Thank you in advance. I hope to pick some up soon but want to make sure I'm doing the best for the birds.

Answer
You can actually get a male and a female. Just don't give them a nest or anything they can use as nesting material. Sometimes they try to nest in the food dish but chasing them around the cage a couple times solves this problem.
I wouldn't go with two of the same sex for the reason you said. It's dangerous. They may fight and the weaker one may even be killed if you aren't careful!
