Finchs and New Egg

Question
I have a pair of finches who have recently laid an egg.  I am wondering how long until I can expect a new baby and if there is any special care or attention that I am needing for the parents to care for the baby?  I am not exactly sure of how long since they laid the egg.  I just noticed it yesterday but their behavior has been different for the last week or two prior to me noticing the egg. Thank you in advance for you help.

Answer
It should take roughly two weeks for the egg to hatch.  You can checkit's progress by shining a flashlight or other powerful, directed light through the egg.
I suggest not bothering the nest too much but still checking on the egg periodically. Finches can be fickle and will abandon the nest if you bother it too much. I suggest removing the seed from the cage so they can't feed it to the baby and feeding them non-seed food. There is several kinds available at Pjs and Petsmart that you can use. Just don't forget to check the expiration date!
