Question
I have a 3 month old zebra in a 4X3X4 flight cage and I wanted to add 2-3 more females in with her, because I don't want to breed them. However, I bought another female and have had two unsuccessful attempts to getting them to get along. The original bird tries to rip the others feathers out and it continues on until I have to seperate them... please help, otherwise I will have to give back the new female to the petshop and I REALLY don't want to... She is very sweet...

Thankyou for your time!
Leanne

Answer
Hi Leanne,
I would put 2 females and 2 males together..you don't have to breed them. They will choose their mates and live very happily together. Pairs are also fun to watch. If you don't provide a nesting box and nesting materials, they won't have a nest to lay them in. Also,if they do happen to lay an egg in the food dish or something, you remove it.simple.
Many people keep pairs without breeding them, you will enjoy watching them together,it's quite entertaining to see them impress eachother.
Don't get rid of your new female, just go get 2 males! You'll love it!  Good luck,Elizabeth
