male finch hurt his leg..what to expect? how to help?

my male finch got something like a tread around his longest "finger" and he was ok for some time- i took off most of material of the finger, but some left...and now he's finger is dark and dry and finch shows signs of uncomfort like- sits on one leg, heavy breathng and his feathers aren't smooth...i tried to take this dark matter of but it's not coming off.what to do?, pleeeaasee

It sounds like he lost circulation to that part of his toe. He's more than likely going to lose it. You can try massaging blood back into the toe but he'll probably lose it all the same. Get him a heater (like what pet stores sell for reptiles) and keep the temperature around 30C to make sure he's comfy. This is going be stressful for him but there's not much you can do.
