Bald Male Zebra Finch

Question
I have 2 pairs of birds in my aviary. The one pair is sitting on 3 eggs right now and the other pair has 2 babies that are 2 1/2 weeks old.  4 days ago I removed from the aviary the first pairs 2 babies that were hatched at the end of November, they seemed to be getting on the adult birds nerves by flying around and attacking the other birds.  I also thought that they were the problem to why my dad zebra finch is bald (obviously I was wrong). The parents that have the 2 1/2 week old babies in the cage seem to be getting along just fine except that the mom keeps pulling all of the feathers from the birds head and it is slowly working its way down his back.  The dad doesn't seem bothered by this at all but I'm sure it can't be good for him either.  I was told to remove the mom dad and 2 babies and put them in a separate cage because they could be stressed and that's why she is doing it but is this really what i should do???  Also the pair got along great right up until about 5 days ago, that's when i noticed the bald head.  Actually they get along fine and feed the babies fine also its just the baldness that's stressing me out, I don't know what to do and I don't want that male to end up dead. Please Help!!!!

Answer
It sounds like stress but I had a pair of zebras do that. The male became addicted to it. The only way to stop it with him was to get him a mate that wouldn't allow it. You can try putting them all in a seperate cage and see if it helps but be prepared that once the babies are able to fend for themselves, you may have to split the male and female
