baby zebras

i had 3 eggs 2 fertilsed the 2 eggs hatched 1 day then the other hatched a day later so when my 2nd baby hatched i looked in i have an open top nest and the first baby that hatched has died ?? so i have taken out the unfertilsed egg and the dead baby but why do u think it has died?

this is actually quite normal..in each batch of chicks theres almost always 1 or 2 deaths.  The parents usually throw them out of the nests. It means there was some kind of problem with the young chick...it's sad,but nature..hope the other is ok...Elizabeth
