Question
I have 2 young male domestic finches they have been in the same living conditions since I got them in mid December. When I uncovered them this morning they have not moved from a sleeping position huddeled together with their heads tucked under their wings.I went ahead and cleaned their cage and gave them fresh food and water. they both got down and ate and then returned to to the sleeping position. Usually they are lively and sing all morning long? I called the pet store where they were purchased them and they said maybe they are cold? But as I said they are in the same location and in the same tempuature and living invoriement that they are use to?

Answer
This could be any number of things. I would start with holding one of the birds to your ear and listening for clicking. If the bird clicks while breathing, they have sac mites which is easily treated with S76 or Scatt (I use scatt) which can be bought from ladygouldian.com. if there is no clicking, take your birds to the vet.
