nesting

my female and male paired up really quick but they wont use the building material that i have placed in there i places cotton and some white string and they wont use either i had already put the cotton in the house but the male wont use the white string so what should i put in their for him to use

I find that my birds don't like it either. They actually prefer nesting material that hamsters and the like use. Timothy hay is a good one and Sisal fiber on the website provided they get really creative with. String isn't good for them anyways. It can wrap around their feet and cut off circulation and also, when they feed babies, the string can end up in the babies gut and coming out of the mouth; killing the babies.
