Death of Mom

I just found my female Society Finch dead this morning without out any warning of being sick.  She left behind 3 10 day old babies along with the Male Society Finch.  Her 4th egg never hatched.  Will the babies be ok with the father taking care of them himself or when would it be ok to introduce a new Society Finch in the cage????

You COULD put in another finch. I've never done so with Societies and am unsure if the father and new bird would watch over the babies. While Societies are the foster parents of the bird world, not all have the parental instinct that the species is infamous for. Due to the nature of these finches I say it is safe to try it but keep a VERY close eye on the cage. You may need to take up hand feeding the babies
