Mother Finch died and left 5 newborns

My female finch died today and left 5 babies 6 days old.  The father is sitting on the nest but I don't know if he can handle the babies my himself.  What do I do?  This was her second clutch and she was only about 6-7 months old.  Thank you for your assistance.  I'm worried about loosing the babies and loosing him.  sandie

The male will more than likely give it his best but he may need a little help in the end. However, I don't recommend you trying to hand feed the babies until you're sure that the male is struggling or not taking care of them because 9 times out of 10 beginners in hand feeding finches, kill them. For now just keep an eye on him and contact me again should you need to hand feed and I will do my best to help you
