QuestionQUESTION: I've 'rescued' a baby Zebra Finch who has a damaged(unusable)leg/foot. He gets around pretty well and is eating and drinking fine. He's active, sings a lot, and seems happy. He enjoys a bath and preens pretty normally. All I've read indicates he should have a friend, however, given his condition, is that a good idea? Thank you!
ANSWER: He can still have a friend as long as the friend's personality is a gentle one. The two can be together just keep the cage the way he needs it. His buddy will adjust.

QUESTION: Thank you! However, since we would not necessarily know up front the personality of any new bird we might introduce, would it possibly be ok to leave him as a "single"?
AnswerYou could but I wouldn't recommend it. There is a way to tell what kind of personality a bird has but it takes a lot of time.
By watching the birds in the cage long enough you can tell a nice one from a bully. You will easily be able to tell the difference
