Question
hi, i just got these 5 finchs a few days ago, she told me, two were females and 3 were males, but the second male finch his feathers were pulled out and then they had a baby, think its a male and he was being pecked on too, by the first daddy male, so i have three cages, so i took the two males out, and put the baby by him self, and put a female with the other pecked male, and left the first daddy male, in with one of the females, now the female is pecking at the daddy male, what is goin on? plus they came with 7 eggs, i just cracked open the eggs, they were not fertile, throw them out, now i want it to start out new, but now this female is pecking at the male, they,ve been all together, so why is this happening? please help me, debbie.

Answer
Could just be that they all have already picked their mates. Try moving the pecking female around until you find a male that she doesn't peck. If she pecks with all of them, move her into a separate cage entirely and put her in a different room away from the others. Make sure she has no contact with the other finches for a couple of weeks and then put her cage near the others so she can see and chat with them. After a couple more weeks reintroduce her to the group and see what she does. If she starts pecking, repeat the process. If she doesn't leave her be. Sometimes it takes a finch to be alone to learn how not to be a bully
