hardly any eggs

Question
my pair of finchs that i had were breeding but the female only laid a few eggs and never laid them in the next she laid them on top of it. we had them for a while them the female suddenly died and the male shortly after. what was wrong with her and whyed they both die like that? please help me out here i'd really like to know about this. thanks

That is odd. She could have been egg bound or sick. Unfortunately, I don't know all the types of illnesses birds can get but I know the warning signs. Were thir feathers puffed out? Sitting on one leg? Sleeping on the bottom of the cage? nasal discharge?
