QuestionOur pair of finches have recently had their eggs hatch and have grown healthy, they just recently started leaving the nest and flying around the cage, however today we noticed that the baby girl bird has started losing feathers on back of head, and we started watching closer to notice one time it was the mother pulling her feathers out. Is this a common issue/to be expected? i do not want to separate them as they are still not feeding on their own. Thank you in advance.
AnswerUnfortunately, this is not common and the chances of the mom stopping are slim. You're best bet is to separate them and learn how to hand feed the babies (this is difficult but not impossible). There are all sorts of baby bird food you can buy from pet stores for this
