having 2 male or 2 female finches

My friend has baby finches.  Is it a problem to have 2 of the same sex?  I don't want to have any babies and this seemed an easy solution, but I've heard that's not the best combination for the finches. If this isn't recommended, how can I make sure they don't breed?

It depends on the type of finch really. I know for a fact that Societies, Owls, and Gouldians have no problem being the same sex. Zebras may but I can not be sure. You can discourage breeding but not giving them a nest which to lay their eggs and putting bars over the bottom of the cage so they can;t make a nest out of the paper on the bottom of the cage.
