death of male finch

Question
I saw a previous question about a male finch bought 30 days ago and found at the bottom of the cage. I think you didnt understand that the woman meant the bird was dead, not just sitting at the bottom of the cage. I am going thru the same thing. pair of finches bought. 30 days ago. eggs have laid and hatched.Today, the male was fine and singing and eating and seemed very normal. at 1pm he fluffed his feathers and went to sleep. At 3pm was eating and at 3:50 was dead at the bottom of the cage. Feces was fine. NO yellow urate and not runny. I have cared for finches before and never heard of this.He had NO signs at all of illness except for the fluffed feathers and sudden lethargy. I am worried about the female and babies now.

Answer
Hmmm that is odd but not as odd as you probably think. The problem with birds is that they don't show signs of sickness until they are very sick.
That seems to be the case with your male. I don't know what he had but if you are worried about the female a babies I suggest calling a vet. I don't know anything about bird diseases and how contagious they are but a vet has a better chance of knowing than I do.
