Untrained Budgies

Question
I have "inherited" two budgies from my teen age grandson, who
basically ignored them during the time he had them.  They are
about 3 years old.  As a result of lack of human contact until
now, they are completely untrained.  In fact they don't even play.
I used to have wonderful budgies as a child and they loved being
around people.

Is there any hope for these two innocent birds?

Answer
Hello Herb and thank you for your question,

I am sorry to hear that, At three years of age taming is likely to never happen. You could try this method it is the same one I have used to tame baby parrots that were "wild",

Take them in to a pet shop or vet and have there wigns trimmed, After their wings are clipped take them out daily by hand(cover them in alight cloth to avoid being bitten) and take them one by one into a quite small room(they will try get back to each other or there cage) and sit the bird on yuor finger, talk to it calmly and try stroking it if it flutters down try, try again, do this for 10/20 minutes each day perferibly broken up by 2/3 sesions, if after 1 week there is no change what so ever with there tameness it is safe to say they will not except you as a member of there "flock", Good luck and if you have any more questions feel free to ask,

Tara.
