QuestionI have a male and female 3 months old. Can they be in the same cage without mating if I DO NOT have a breeding nest.
Can they be together when they get older and not mate if I do not provide a nest.
Thank you,
Arlene
AnswerArlene,
A male and female cockatiel will mate regardless of whether or not you provide them with a nestbox. They will also lay eggs (perhaps not successfully) whether or not you have a nestbox. The best thing you can do for cockatiels this young is to have them in separate cages next to each other.
Good luck,
Cindy
