mini horse driving

Question
I have a 32 inch mini that I am breaking to drive.  She does all groundwork well and is pulling a little tikes wagon with no problem.  :).  She has been led between the shafts and does not mind having them bump her.  I have an adjustable shaft cart with 53 and 48 inch shaft lengths.  Either length can be adjusted with the tracings to fit witht the shaft tip at the horses shoulder.  It seems like the shorter shaft (keeping her close to the cart) would be better when I finally get in and start driving.  Any suggestions?  Thanks

Answer
Hi Susan-
Thanks for your question. I use a trainer to teach my minis to drive but I do know that a 32" mini is not that big and that 48" shafts are pretty standard for mini carts. I believe 53" would be more for a pony. As long as its not too close to her hocks I think you are better off with the shorter shafts. Hope this helps. Best, Toni
