QuestionOur 8 year old. stud horse shows no sign of interest in breeding our mares. We bought him to service our mare . Old owners said no refunds? GREAT! Anyway, Our oldest mare is in heat but he does not seem interested at all "but" they do hang out together now. How can we get him interested in breeding? thank you
AnswerHi Norman-
Thanks for your question. I agree, it is unusual behavior for a stallion. Has he successfully bred before? I would continue to leave them together for awhile and see how things progress. It may just be the change in environment or she may not be completely ready yet. However, if he continues not to have any interest "in the girls" you may just want to have him gelded, sell him and buy another. In my experience, it is easier to find a good stud horse then a nice safe gelding. Just a thought. Hope this helps, Toni
