Question
QUESTION: I was curious about miniature shows. Where can I show my mini at??? My daughters are i 4-H and 4-H offers a few mini classes, but i can't find a show that offers classes like miniature jumping?

ANSWER: HI JoAnne-

Thanks for your question. I don't know what state you are in but generally speaking the American Miniature Horse Registry and/or the American Miniature Horse Association should be able to help you. Just put them in your browser for contact info. They generally have lists of breeders in your state who should be able to tell you. Many "Open" and local shows have miniature classes. See if there's a miniature horse club in your area by contacting a breeder in your state. They should be able to tell you. I belong to the Virginia Miniature Horse Club and we have a website. Do you have local or regional equine publications? Check with the State and County Fairs as well. Many of them have miniature classes. Hope this helps. Best, Toni

QUESTION: Thanks! I live in south/western PA. I checked out some fairs, and my county's fair does have an open miniature show. I was looking at the classes, and what is the difference between a hunter class and a jumping class? Thanks again!!

Answer
Hi Again JoAnne-
Thanks for your question. The American Miniature Horse Association has their rulebook available online-
http://www.amha.org/rulebook/Show-Rules.pdf (just cut and paste the link into your browser) with 3 pages on Jumping and Hunter classes. Basically, they are judgerd differently- jumpers are on points and Hunters are on style, manners and way of going. Hope this helps. Best, Toni
