sick foal

my MO. old mare was playing out side today and she started acting funny she wont eat and she keeps her nose in the water bucket drinking and iam very worried about her i dont know whats awrong with her she was running and playing eailer and i heard here coughing a few times and know shes droopy and wont eat can you please give me some advise on something i can do to help her the vet here is 4hours away if you can get them to see you   thank you rhonda

I am not aware of any illness with these specific symptoms so I really do suggest you see a vet. If they won't come to you I would load her up and take her to them. Call a small animal vet nearer you and see if they will see her or can refer you to someone closer. I wouldn't wait as they can go downhill quickly and chances for recovery are better the earlier they are seen. Anytime they are off their feed is a big warning signal for a mini. Good luck, Toni
