hiya
i have got a 7hh miniture shetland. he was a rescue and we bought him a couple of weeks ago. since then we noticed scabs all over him like on his back, shoulders and neck.
the one on his neck are the worst because there building up and he wont let us touch them. i no there only small but he rears up and kicks you if you try and touch them.
we have also washed him a couple of times with speacail skin shampoo but nothing is helping them. please can you help me.

Hi Ellie-
Thanks for your question. I have had a lot of luck with a product called M-T-G you can get at most tack stores, Tractor Supply, etc. for all kinds of skin problems. It also comes in a spray so that might be easier to treat him with until he gets used to you. The beauty of it is that it starts to improve usually with a single treatment.  A more holistic approach is Tea Tree Oil. It may not be rain rot- it could be ring worm, allergies or some kind of mites. If it doesn't clear up or start looking better (or worse, starts to spread) definitely consult a vet. Make sure he has vitamins and minerals, particularly if he is a rescue. Hope this helps. Best, Toni
