can my horse be sick

my miniature horse is staring to cough and I'm wondering if it could be because of the weather or is he just sick?

Thanks for your question. Yes, he could be sick or there are a lot of things that can cause coughing. Does he also have nasal discharge? Have you changed his hay or bedding lately? Is he up to date on his worming? has he been around other horses- any of them with the same symptoms? Check and see that he doesn't have a fever. If not, I would probably wait a few days to see if it changes. Hope this helps. Best of luck, Toni
