Shelter for Minis

Question
It is necessary to have a shelter available to miniatures? I live in northern Virginia where it rarely gets below 20F, even on the coldest nights, and snow is never bad. A shelter is ideal, but if my mini was used to living outside and I tossed a warm winter blanket over, would he be alight without shelter? Sorry bout the storm of questions!...thanks for all your answers!

Answer
Hi Krystal-

I do think minis should have shelter but it doesn't have to be fancy. Basically they just need a place to get out of the rain, wind, sun, etc. They are very hardy. The only time I blanket mine is if they have been clipped (for a show) and don't have a warm coat. Some people use a simple overhang area, large dog house type structure, A-frame panels of plywood, those metal carports, etc. I live in Central VA and we have had "shelter weather" this winter. I would rather do that then mess with blankets. Best, Toni
