more than one mini?

Question
I understand that miniature horses are best kept with other miniatures, but is this really necessary? I have a fifth or sixth acre of pasture, and I'm worried that will be too little for more than one mini. I'd be around and interacting most of the afternoon and evening.

Answer
Hi Krystal-
Bottom line is that horses are herd animals. I firmly believe they need company. Whether you are enough company for your horse remains to be seen. It may be just fine but then again your mini may develop behavioral issues. Minis can overeat and founder with a lot of pasture- really hay is better as you can control the amount of forage. The pasture is more for them to run and play and be horses. Best, Toni
