Clipping a mini

Question
My mini is about 2 months now and I am in Florida. It is so hot and humid down here and the baby is sweating a lot. Sometimes his fur is so wet it makes me feel bad for him. My problem is someone told me when they had a baby that you had to be careful when you clip and they could not clip till the following spring. I hate to see him suffer in this heat with his baby fur till it cools down which could be November or December if we are lucky. Can you explain what or why you should wait till spring. Thanks Linda

Answer
Hi Linda-
This is another one of those controversial questions that doesn't need to be but I think it's pretty simple. If the baby is miserable, clip it! It is great preparedness for being clipped later in life and I don't think it hurts anything! I have known folks who clip babies all the time in the summer with no ill effects. You are in Florida so he/she is not likely to get a chill, right? Commonly, baby or milk hair sheds out fairly quickly and many people just keep brushing it until it sheds out but if they are going to lose it anyway, what's the harm? Just my opinion but please don't feel guilty for wanting to help that baby. Best, Toni
