sugar glider bonding problems

Question
I bought an 11 week old female sugar glider about a month an a half ago and she pretty much hates me. I've been carrying her around in a bonding pouch whenever I can and shell take treats from my hands but bites them as soon as its gone. When she bites they arent just little bites they draw blood. Ive tried going into a closed room and letting her run around but she wont go near me so i tried letting her out in the bathtub and she just hides behind my back, tries to escape, or bites my toes. Is there any hope of us bonding? Do you have any suggestions? I love her to pieces I just wish she loved me.
best,
ashley

Answer
Ashley,

Your glider does not hate you.  She is frightened, and is defending herself against what she thinks is a threat.  She needs to learn to trust you.  You need to go through the bonding process from the beginning.  Do not handle her or let her run loose until you have followed all the steps in the process.

It took me four months to "tame" my first glider.  I was so sad that he didn't like me.  Well he is the sweetest glider I have now.  Be patient.  You can't rush the bonding process.  It will be worth the wait.  Go to nc.sugar.gliders.googlepages.com to read my article about bonding.

I hope this helps  Please keep in touch,
