New mate after death of mate?

22 15:51:13

Question
Hi, My female Suggie died about a week ago. I still have not figured out why, she was very active, ate well, and did not have bites on her or anything? But the male seems sooo sad. he just sits pirched up on the top hanger and barks. It's breaking my heart! Can he die of a broken heard or of loneliness? How soon can I bring him home a mate?

Answer
Stephanie,

Sorry for your loss.  Actually, gliders have been known to die soon after losing a loved one.  Please get your glider a companion as soon as possible.  In the meantime, keep him in a bonding pouch during the day to give him the comfort of your presence.  Keep the pouch with you, and hold him while he sleeps whenever you can. Give him attention while he is awake, too, if possible.

What do you feed your gliders?  Now would be a good time to make sure that the diet is as healthy as possible.  Please go to my website for suggestions.  nc.sugar.gliders.googlepages.com.  You might also want to ensure that the cage is clean and safe.

I hope this helps.  Good luck,

Betty
