Answer
Dear Petra:

No problem.  Let your mom know I am in my mid-40's.  I have teenage and grown sons.  I bred gliders for 5 years.  I then realized the greater need was to rescue and re-home gliders. Around Christmas, I neutered all of my males and am concentrating on rescuing and re-homing sugar gliders. Your mom can read more about me and my story at affinitysugargliders.com

The proper cage should be no less (and preferably larger than) 2 ft wide x 2 ft wide x 3 ft tall.  The bigger the better.

You can find very inexpensive toys like dollar store baby chains and silk plant vines.  You can hang things like inexpensive "Barrel of Monkeys" from Target.  Suggies like to chew, so they will pull them down and chew them.  They will rip leaves from silk plants, too.  Sometimes they will pull them into their pouch.

You can make toys out of pieces of fleece and plastic beads and bells.

If you have the option to spend more, you can use parrot toys from pet stores.  Exotic bird toys are safe.

You can use lanyard clips to attaching things to the cage.
